BASF publishes its Responsible Sourcing Report

Ludwigshafen, September 12, 2024 – BASF today released the second edition of its Responsible Sourcing Report (RSR). The report documents the progress made in 2023 in the three pillars of sustainability – economy, environment and society – and is also an endorsement of BASF's commitment to sustainability, demonstrating the company’s dedication to supporting smallholder farmers and promoting sustainable practices.

BASF invites to the first Care 360° Sustainability Days. Following the success of Sustainable Beauty Days for personal care customers in the past two years, the Care Chemicals division this time is looking forward to welcoming participants from all its businesses to sessions on selected sustainability topics.

EBITDA before special items at level of prior-year quarter; outlook 2024 unchanged

“Overall, the development of EBITDA before special items in the second quarter of 2024 was in line with our expectations and the analyst consensus. We saw a continuation of the dynamics of the first quarter, marked by positive volume momentum across most of our businesses. There was still pressure on prices,” said Dr. Markus Kamieth, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, when presenting the figures for the second quarter of 2024 together with Chief Financial Officer Dr. Dirk Elvermann.

BASF expands its biomass balance portfolio for selected chemical intermediates

BASF will expand its biomass balance offering to include BMBCertTM 1,4-butanediol (BDO), tetra­hydrofuran (THF), polytetra­hydrofuran (PolyTHF®) and 3-(di­methyl­amino)pro­pyl­amine (DMAPA). In addition to the production site in Ludwigshafen, Germany, the site in Geismar, Louisiana, has also achieved certifications for all these products. The Ulsan site in South Korea has obtained certification for PolyTHF. With these certifications, BASF can now offer its customers regionally produced ISCC PLUS and REDcert2-certified products for which renewable resources replace fossil feedstock and additionally reduce the cradle-to-gate product carbon footprint (PCF).

BASF wins at in-cosmetics Global Awards and BSB Innovation Awards 

Paris, France – April 17, 2024 – During in-cosmetics Global in Paris, BASF's Personal Care business unit was awarded four times for innovative ingredients.  The in-cosmetics Global Award in the category “Kenvue Trusted Science Award” went to BASF recognizing innovative and effective modern ingredients which consumers can count on everyday. At the same time the 2024 Innovation Prize by the German consulting agency BSB has been won in three categories. “With our Beyond Beauty campaign, launched at in-cosmetics Global, we are promoting the Personal Care industry's transition to more sustainable solutions. After all, tomorrow's beauty will be about authenticity while taking care of the planet,” said Peter Weinert, Vice President, Business Management Personal Care Europe, Middle East, and Africa at BASF. “The four winning ingredients are an important milestone on this journey, and the awards are recognition of these efforts. We are proud to receive them.”
